Mission Statement

Women in International Security, Sweden (WIIS Sweden) is a non-profit, non-partisan network dedicated to strengthening the influence of women in the fields of international peace, security and defence, while enhancing dialogue about international security issues. We do so by enabling the sharing of expertise, experience and contacts among our members.

WIIS International

Women in International Security (WIIS) was first established in 1987 by a small group of women experts in foreign and defence affairs. The headquarters is based in the US at CSIS. However, globally WIIS has over 7,000 members in 47 countries.

The WIIS Global Leadership Council reflects the commitment of leaders around the world to the WIIS mission. The Leadership Council is currently chaired by Madeleine Albright, former US Secretary of State.
